Island on the Run

_Island on the Run_ interweaves montages of real and virtual scenes through six media. Faced with the De-extinction process and personal ornithophobia, it envisions a future island scenario, where an extinct bird called MOA has undergone a second extinction after being successfully resurrected. AI-generated images are collaged with the captured reality, an artificial botanical garden, blurring the orientation to time and space.

Cyan No-type is a research-based, collaborative art project by The Ink Group: Huanzhe Hu, Jiho Park, Yangqi Deng.

  
This work goes back and forth between antique and digital technologies, dimensions and materials through various experiments based on data extracted from nature. The group collected all the raw materials in the field with various devices. Each data with configurations of memory was stored in different formats including photographs, videos, sounds, and 3D scan models. The objects become photographs and photographs become objects. The byproducts derived from this process were installed and intersected with each other, becoming another type of landscape.

As part of _Islands on the Run_, this print overlaps Maurice Maeterlinck's 80s Chinese version of the comic book The Blue Bird with AI-generated images to create a new journey in space.

An artificial one.

_Turtle?_ is a nonlinear fictional narrative piece that unfolds around questioning the turtle through imagery drawn from multiple sources, news reports, nature documentaries, mythology, scientific diagrams and fairy tales. I create my visual map by finding connections between various unrelated events. Reality and imagination are intertwined and blurred on this map of scientific facts and myths. The turtle is both the subject and the medium, connecting the past and the future, carrying the earth across the universe.
