Andelsgaarde is calling for applications from artists for their three-week ‘Earth Connections’ residency on the Brinkholm cooperative farm in Stevns in South Zealand, Denmark, in March–April 2025.
Based on anthropological research, art and regenerative agricultural practices, the project will investigate how sensory experiences with land can shape both farmers’ and citizens’ understanding of, relationship and response to land. Based on the anthropological research field ‘multispecies anthropology’ and based on fieldwork in the regenerative agricultural environment in Denmark, the research will contribute new methods and new knowledge about encounters between humans and other species; especially the terrestrial organisms.
As a practice partner, Andelsgaarde will – in collaboration with the researchers and artists – develop tools and event formats that experiment with how a sensory approach can increase awareness of soil-dwelling species and strengthen engagement in the debate on the development of Danish agriculture.
This Open Call is a specialised residency that invites artists to participate in an interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge, practices and methods and the co-creation of sensory, citizen-engaging farm events. It includes:
