As Germany’s international cultural institute, Goethe-Institut promotes cultural collaboration worldwide, encourages intercultural dialogue, and enables cultural involvement. Focusing on shared artistic production, reception and reflection, the Goethe-Institut Southeast Asia initiates and co-organises this residency platform to connect, to exchange ideas, to collect impulses, to work in a new cultural context, and to draw on a variety of new inspirations.
The REFLEKT residency programme encourages the artists/curators/art practitioners in residence to expand their research, develop a concept/prototype, build a project, or create an artwork together with the hosting organisations and local communities. Ideally, after completing the residency, the residents would continue their work and present them in their city of origin with the local Goethe-Institut as a host.
For the first edition, we offer five slots in total for artists, curators, and art practitioners to work and engage with their respective art scene and public in Germany for two months with the following preferred hosts:
