The Agility Award is an Arts Council funding scheme for individual professional artists and arts practitioners who have not been previously funded as an individual by the Arts Council. You can apply for the Agility Award if you want to:

Call for Artists: “Humanity” – An International Exhibition

**Contrast!, Issue 4 is an exhibition and a publication surrounding the theme and concept of contrast- what it means in art and how it is portrayed. We encourage you to take the idea as conceptually or literally as possible, as it is a form of creative research on how contrast as an concept appears in art.**

  
This is the final edition of the Contrast publication and there will be no more Contrast publications thereafter. Therefore the exhibition will span two months in total to celebrate this.

**CCA Islands offers CCA Travel Scholarship for emerging artists**, curators, architects, designers and those who aim to be a professional in various areas of contemporary art and culture, **pursuing their research and creative activities in Japan**.

The scholarship offers research expenses of JPY 200,000 and covers one return transportation fare (only to/from Japan) according to CCA Islands terms and conditions (In the case of residing in Japan, transportation expenses for one round trip between the two locations in Japan is provided).

The Macmillan Prize for Illustration is awarded for an unpublished children’s picture book. Submissions are open for 2025!

  
Established in 1985, this prize is open to non-professional illustrators and celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The aim of the award is to stimulate new creative work that helps students to take the first steps in their professional careers. This coveted award has discovered many award-winning and bestselling talents, including Emily Gravett, Lucy Cousins, Ross Collins, Bethan Woollvin and Morag Hood. 

  
The winners will be chosen by a panel of judges comprising individuals from Macmillan as well as independent guest judges. 

a) The prizes for the winners of the Competition consist of:

  
* First Prize: £1,000
* Second Prize: £500
* Third Prize: £250

  
b) The prize-winners, plus the highly commended entrants, will be invited to a reception where the winners’ and highly commended entrants’ work will be exhibited. We intend to hold the reception in London in the summer.

Macmillan Prize for Illustration

The Swiss Cultural Fund UK supports emerging and established Swiss artistic talents in the United Kingdom. 

  
**The Project must:**

* demonstrate a high standard of artistic quality or specialist skill
* be innovative in subject and professional in implementation
* be accessible to the public
* promote sustainability and social inclusivity
* demonstrate an appropriate cost-benefit ratio. The project is suitably budgeted for.

  
**Special attention is given to projects that:**

* forge strong partnerships with renowned institutions throughout the UK to ensure the widest possible exposure and the best qualitative impact
* demonstrate how artistic perspectives can highlight diverse voices and innovative takes in societal topics
* engage with local artists and / or local communities
* stimulate Swiss artists’ career and network

Support for one artist or organization will generally not exceed £3000 over two consecutive financial years.

2025 Travelling Scholarships

The Cedar Ridge Summer Residency welcomes one visual artist from July 2 to August 29, 2025, culminating in a September exhibit of the resident's work in the Cedar Ridge Gallery. The residency offers a working environment that supports the artistic process for emerging and mid-career artists. 

The 2025 Residency site is The Gardener's Cottage, nestled in the Cedar Ridge park and gardens, overlooking a ravine with the Highland Creek below. The cottage is adjacent to the Cedar Ridge Main House, which holds galleries and instructional art studios.

The Cedar Ridge Gallery is a public gallery space owned and operated by the City of Toronto available for individual artists and arts groups. Gallery exhibitions are viewed by visual arts enthusiasts and by those at the Cedar Ridge Creative Centre attending courses and other events, providing a great opportunity to present the works on display to a larger community.

The City of Toronto has made enhancements to the Public Gallery Program in five City-operated public galleries, including Cedar Ridge Creative Centre Gallery. These changes are part of a new pilot initiative, aligned with CARFAC (Canadian Artists’ Representation / Le Front des Artistes Canadiens) guidelines. The enhancements are designed to increase equitable access to the City’s cultural spaces and elevate support for artists, while advancing some of the key objectives of the City’s Culture Connects: An Action Plan for Culture in Toronto.

  
Artist Responsibilities:

* The successful artist is responsible for any and all costs that are in excess of five hundred dollars for art supplies; all other costs associated with the residency remain the artist’s responsibility
* Recipient must work in the studio a minimum of 15 hours per week, during operating hours
* Recipient will be required to give an artist talk and offer one community workshop at Cedar Ridge
* Recipient must actively participate in the promotion of the program, the site and the opening reception through their own networks and effort
* Recipient is responsible for installation of the Residency Exhibition in the gallery

  

The artist will receive a residency package, which includes:

* The use of the Gardener's Cottage studio during the Centre's regular operating hours
* Exhibition space at the Cedar Ridge Gallery from September 6 to September 24, 2025
* Promotion of final exhibition through established City of Toronto channels
* Five hundred dollars in art supplies
* Cedar Ridge Creative Centre's support connecting the recipient to the community, art networks and/or to pursue outside grants for the term of their residency
* In accordance with the CARFAC 2025 fee schedule for Exhibitions with Art for Sale, the eligible exhibiting artist will be paid both an exhibition fee (Section 1: A.1.7) and an installation fee (Section 4: C.7.0), based on number of artworks and hour duration of installation
