**_happy bath stool(2023)_** is an endurance performance and kinetic sculpture inspired by childhood exfoliation rituals in Korean bathhouses. The oversized stool, covered in silicone tiles, embodies discomfort and memory. Dressed in a "Happy Woman" costume, I enact repetitive, violent gestures against the stool, exploring themes of beauty, labor, and resilience

It’s Not Easy to Receive

This wool wall sculpture is part of an ongoing series made from hand pressed die cut soundproofing felt, linked and sewn onto a repurposed canvas background. I am interested in exploring the creative pathways that bridge conscious reality and the dream scape through experimental art making.

During winter vacation, my mother visited Lahore and spent three months in my studio, collaborating on numerous paintings. Here, she expressed her thoughts on dyed cotton, using a sign language reminiscent of her experiences in childhood. After a long time spent together in the studio, my mother shared many inside stories of her journey from Afghanistan when the Soviet Union invaded. They became refugees, spending time in refugee camps. This series of paintings reflects that era, depicting simple huts, zigzag lines, and more, encapsulating the essence of those times.

**Feel Me Flow** channels the vibrant energy of my summers growing up in New Jersey. The large canvas pulses with dynamic motion and color, capturing the heat and rhythm of city life in the summertime. This piece is a visual expression of the flow of time, experience, and movement through the urban environment, where moments are fluid, and everything feels alive.

  
At the heart of the painting is a glowing orb, radiating shades of blue that ripple outward, blending into neon pinks and icy blues that evoke the sweltering heat of the city. Sharp, angular forms intersect with these flowing shapes, representing the balance between structure and chaos, much like the architecture of the urban landscape itself.

  
The splashes of color and fluid drips embody the carefree joy and relentless pace of summer in the city—whether it's the hum of the streets, basketball games on the court, or the simple freedom of a long, hot day. _Feel Me Flow_ is my personal ode to the rhythm of urban life, capturing the energy, nostalgia, and culture that have shaped my creative journey.

PINK ELEPHANT

This piece is part of a series called "Skin". I am thinking about skin and how it’s a boundary between humans and our environment. The organic delicate paper forms a skin-like surface while the hard structures relate to architecture or the skeleton. An interesting tension is created when the soft paper hugs the hard form. I try to combine hard and soft elements into much of my work as this duality is present everywhere including our bodies, and our physical surroundings, both of which are areas of fascination for me.

_“Ɔhɔhoɔ, II”_ (Stranger, II) explores themes of displacement, alienation, and identity through the vibrant interplay of color, pattern, and form. Rendered in oil pastel on Dutch wax print fabric, the work blends abstract and figurative elements, reflecting the character of Ɔhɔhoɔ as both an outsider and a mirror of personal and collective experiences. The juxtaposition of traditional wax prints with bold, modern imagery highlights the tension between cultural hybridity and individuality, inviting viewers to interpret their own connections to the work’s layered narrative.

The umbrella carries many meanings throughout Asia. There are martial arts forms that use the umbrella for defense. The parasol is one of the eight sacred symbols of the Ashtamangala. In this painting, the umbrella evokes all the protections and wards off evil.

  
2014 marked my first trip to Vitaliy's mother in Tatarstan. The Maiden Revolution had just disrupted Yanukovych 's government in the Ukraine. Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula after invading it. I was frequently mistaken for a Ukrainian refugee at this time. Vitaliy forbade me to speak English in public.

  
2014 was also the year of the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong. How far will passive resistance take us? In this self-portrait, I carry my yellow umbrella, my safe house. My imagination creates the flowers that bloom, as walk through a colorful landscape of my own creation. The existing reality was grey.

A diptych made during the first peak of the Covid-19 pendemia, while both of my daughters were claiming, spaces and lots of attention. To me that work still looked unfinished, but showed it anyway in my last solo show, called CONFINITUDES, that took place in a Montreal temporary gallery, from october 2022 'till february 2023.
