About

What begins as an act of satisfaction and rebellion from my childhood continues as a metaphor for life and seeks to understand our meaning in the world.

My work is comprised by textiles, embroideries or weavings that- with the help of a spindle-shaped mechanism- slowly unravels in a self-performative way.

Just as Penelope unraveled her yarn at night as a way of maintaining her freedom, my works unravel as a way of understanding my own realities and concerns: the principle of the feminine and masculine, the need of identity, passage of time, the effort of what is laboured, the urge of connecting human and technological intervention.

Each work is a dissection of ideas and personal experiences that together with a mechanism create a dialogue between the conventional and the contemporary, the artisanal and the digital, the old and the new, questioning technological advances and digitisation to define the world we live in today and what it consists of. Each piece that is created is simultaneously an extension of its past and a preview of the future.
