Un-mothering is an ongoing project that explores female lineage and empowerment. It questions the patriarchal expectations of women as mothers and natural nurturers that influence and at times limit their rights to their own bodies and desires.
 
With a focus on the mother-child relationship, the artist uses Persian calligraphy to create an alternative narrative for each photo. Through this practice, they seek to recreate a family archive aimed at healing in order to further explore the possibilities available to bodies assigned or identified as female in social and domestic contexts that influence their relationships, social status, and worthiness.
