"Recess" is a series of objects found in a thrift store and painted in enamel and adhered to the wall.

I used old fabrics that were initially intended to be used for scrap rags. The stitching form is somewhat arbitrary - The length of the lines produced correspond to the length of the thread.

"Humming Harder" is simply a piece assembled with old painting stir sticks I've used throughout the years.

"Parquet Play" is a game where the pieces used came from 20 paintings used for a different project. Dice are rolled to determine:

1. which piece from which painting to use
2. what orientation to use (peak up or down)

Once the piece and orientation is determined the participant can add it to either side of the line.

Nothing Hides The Color of The Light That Shines

"Atsuko" is an interactive game where participants adhere tin cans to the wall through the roll of dice. The "board" is a grid of 12 squares (3x4) that informs the players where to put the cans. the size of the grid is dependent on the space. 

They roll twice. The first tin can is placed on the grid square correspondent to the number rolled. The second is connected to the first by yarn and is placed within the square they roll next. Participants can place the cans anywhere within the square.

The title is a reference to artist Atsuko Tanaka.

Atsuko? It's Tom!

“Thomas” is an interactive game where the form is determined by the roll of dice. It can be played with multiple players.

1. Organize the tracks in rows

2. Start with one divergent track - nail this track to the wall.

3. Roll dice to determine which track will be used next. For example, if you roll a “6,” choose the 6th track in the row.

4. Add selected track to existing tracks on the wall. The tracks are made up of two colors. You can connect it to any track that does not contain the same colored parts. For instance, there is the color on the inside “rails” and the color of the track body. You cannot connect a piece with pink rails with another piece that has pink rails. You can, however, connect a piece with pink rails to one that has a pink body as long as the rails are a different colors. If there are multiple options, placement is dependent upon the player.

5. Repeat turns between players until all tracks are used.

Day Job is a piece made up of repurposed materials, sometimes from old stretcher bars, sometimes scrap I had lying around. It was a response to Brazilian artist Sergio de Camargo's work. The pieces of wood are assembled and the colors were chosen through chance operations.
