The European Crafts Alliance (ECA) is seeking proposals from expert researchers to produce a comprehensive analysis of the Ukrainian crafts ecosystem following the Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
The contracted service is the creation of a research report analysing the current situation of the Ukrainian crafts sector since the Russian invasion, combined with the development of practical proposals to support resilience and professional continuity.
The study should address the situation of Ukrainian craftspeople who have remained in Ukraine as well as those who are currently living and working in other European countries. Key aspects to be examined include: working conditions, access to materials and tools, market opportunities, and mental health/wellbeing.
Research and interviews can be conducted entirely online; travel is not a requirement for this study. Minimum expectations include:
Review of existing literature and data.
Qualitative engagement: Interviews with Ukrainian craftspeople; in Ukraine and host countries, and relevant stakeholders such as craft organisations, NGOs, cultural institutions and support networks.
Case Studies: Development of concrete examples illustrating resilience strategies.
Synthesis: Thematic analysis of findings to inform policy and practice.
