The Broward Cultural Council Public Art & Design Program and the Broward County Aviation Department are seeking to commission an artist or a team of artists to create a visually engaging artwork for the soon-to-be-built Terminal 1 – 2 Connector at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Project Site

The artwork site is the interior of the pedestrian bridge that will connect Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. The space is a long, quiet, natural-light-filled hallway with two moving walkways and seating areas. The connector bridge is approximately 512 ft. long.

Artist Services

The following activities will be required:

▪Development of a concept for the artwork

▪Design modification, as needed, to seamlessly integrate the artist-designed elements into the base building Construction Documents

▪Fabrication, installation, and coordination with the project’s General Contractor and Airport Program Managers during the construction phase

▪Community Interaction

▪Educational Outreach

Project Scope

The selected artist or team of artists must design, fabricate, and install an original artwork above or around the moving walkway. The artwork must enhance the aesthetic appearance of the space and create a memorable and exciting visual experience unique to South Florida for passengers who move on or walk past the moving walkway.

All artwork materials and equipment must be durable and easy to clean and maintain.
