The prize recognizes black and white works by professional up-and-coming photographers and will be awarded on July 12, 2026 as part of the exhibition of the same name at the Hofheim am Taunus City Museum.
The Marta Hoepffner Society for Photography promotes artistic black and white photography with this prize and supports emerging professional photographers in this field. The aim is to keep alive the memory of the photographer Marta Hoepffner (1912–2000) and to regularly provide the interested public with insights into current developments in contemporary black and white photography.
To mark its 25th anniversary, the Marta Hoepffner Society for Photography eV is simultaneously presenting all the award-winning works of previous prize winners.
On the topic: "Behind the Looking Glass"
As a symbol of reflection, the mirror represents metaphorical snapshots and descriptions of states of being, including the view of oneself. As a mediator between reality and illusion, it can question familiar perceptions, shift perspectives, or make (repressed) experiences visible.
Participants are encouraged to find and photographically capture individual and creative forms of representation on this theme.
