The Nantes Institute for Advanced Study is establishing a fellowship in ‘Arts, Societies and Contemporary Mutations’. In this context, the IEA in collaboration with local partners, Lieu Unique, the Nantes Saint-Nazaire School of Fine Arts and Nantes Métropole, is offering an international artistic and research residency to artists from the global south. This residency is supported by Nantes Métropole – Culture Department.
The duration of the residency is six months from 14 September 2026 to 14 March 2027.
The fellowship supports the development of artistic research in dialogue with the humanities and social sciences, with the aim of questioning the contemporary transformations of our societies. It also raises methodological questions and reflections on the nature of the embodied knowledge produced and transmitted through these practices.
Outreach, mediation, and dissemination activities are organised for different audiences. The production of a work is not the primary aim of this residency; however, the artist is granted a limited budget to carry out a project.
