Studio H Canada is seeking textile artists interested in working on 2D and 3D textile projects including weaving, felting, embroidery, and sewing (hand work and machine). Artists do not need to be primarily working in textiles to apply however, the artist's residency goals and project should be textile focused. While at Studio H Canada, artists will have access to textile equipment including three sewing machines, a Janome 550e embroidery machine with MySewNet software access to create their own original digital designs, a LeClerc tapestry loom, and simple floor loom as well as coaching and tutorials from Heidi. Other textile equipment includes a drum carder, hand tools, garment steamer, iron etc.
Please contact us for more information on available equipment and studio information or visit our website Studio Information page here. Typically, Studio H Canada hosts 2 artists at a time and has separate studio space for textile and multimedia artists. Studio H Canada International Artist Residency is a highly social atmosphere, and strives to create an organic experience both inside and outside of the studio. Ideally, artists from across Canada are paired with an International artist while in residence to promote interdisciplinary and international friendship and artistic collaboration.
