Voilà: the 20th edition of the Tapirulan Illustrator Contest is here! As usual, we poured our passion and dedication into it, and now it’s finally ready. The 20th edition, can you believe it? We want to highlight that because we are pretty proud to have reached this milestone. In our new archive, you can find all the past editions of the contest. And we are so thrilled that… voilà, we increased the winner’s prize: the author of the work awarded with the Jury Prize will get 3000 euros.
But first things first: to participate in the contest, you can be located anywhere in the world; you must submit only one square illustration before the 11th of November 2024; you can use whatever technique you like, but there is only one theme allowed… Voilà.
“Voilà” is the theme of this year’s contest.
As many of you know, “voilà” is a typical French expression, although I’m sure you have used it now and then, it doesn’t matter where you’re from. When and why would you ever say, with great emphasis and delight, “voilà”? The answer lies only in the imagination and creativity of those who will participate in the contest.
We are only allowed to add one more piece of information: voilà monsieur Gilles Bachelet, this year’s special guest, who will select – along with the other jury members – the 52 artists that will be part of an exhibition at the Museo del Violino in Cremona, starting March 2025. Not only that: all the selected illustrations will be part of the exhibition’s catalogue. Per tradition, 12 of them will also be published in the Tapirulan calendar. One of the works will be assigned the Jury Prize (3000 euros) and one other the Popular Prize (500 euros).
Voilà, we’ve said it all… well, almost. For the rest, you better read the rules!
