BeCraft has been based in the stable of the Anciens Abattoirs de Mons for 20 years now.
For the occasion, a call for applications is launched to European artists for an exhibition on the theme of slaughterhouses.
The pieces selected for the exhibition will be of high technical and aesthetic quality. They will respond to the theme of the abattoirs (in the broad sense, not just about the slaughterhouses of Mons). The intention may be for or against, the interpretation may be critical or second-degree, the intervention may be architectural, in situ, large, tiny... The theme is launched on the basis of a word, what it evokes (its architecture, its history, its societal, ecological and ethical issues….
This is the quality and the interest, the original and/or innovative nature of the works that will guide the selection. The selection will be influenced by the overall coherence of the exhibition, in order to encourage a line of conduct and a dialogue between the works. The possibilities for spatial presentation will also be taken into account. If possible, the exhibition may travel to other locations.
