The Swiss Art Competition, held annually since 1899, is the world’s oldest art award. The accompanying Swiss Art Awards exhibition, which is organised by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture, offers an insight into current art and architecture in Switzerland and is a valuable reference for art professionals and art lovers. The jury of the Swiss Art Awards consists of seven members of the Federal Art Commission, selected by the Federal Council, as well as five invited experts.
Swiss artists and architects as well as curators, editors and critics in art and architecture can take part in the Swiss Art Competition. From the 2025 edition, participation in the competition will only be possible once every two years, i.e. after registering for the Swiss Art Competition, a person cannot register for the competition again in the following year . People who submitted their dossier for the 2024 competition will only be eligible to participate again in the 2026 competition.
From the 2025 edition, the limit of a maximum of 6 entries in the competition.
