Our MFA is more accessible and affordable than ever, with generous scholarships, and a low residency model that features two residencies per year. Presenting dynamic courses at sites throughout the Americas, this MFA prepares artists to engage with the most pressing issues of our time. This low-residency MFA is built around field-based residencies, which form the heart of the experiential, hands-on curriculum. An ongoing reciprocal relationship is developed with each residency community.
Artists benefit from learning from a wide range of teachers. This program’s roster of faculty, affiliated collectives, and visiting artists is deep and wide. Students learn from art world luminaries, tribal elders, experienced activists, craftspeople, and experts in the fields of the sciences and humanities. Whether it is digging clay with Roxanne Swentzell, wading into the Everglades with Mark Dion, or developing a project with Pedro Lasch, our students gain valuable professional experiences through field experiences with esteemed faculty.
