open call arita/saga residency 2025

The Arita residency was set up by Creative Residency Arita (CRA), an international artist-in-residence programme of the city of Arita and Saga Prefecture in Japan, in collaboration with the Creative Industries Fund NL and the Mondriaan Fund.

This residency is for designers and artists who want to carry out research in the artistic and technical fields and to develop their own work through intensive interaction with local porcelain producers in the Saga region during a work period in Arita, Japan.

The aim of the residency is to stimulate crossovers and experimentation and to initiate new collaborations between Dutch designers and artists and local porcelain producers and craftsmen. An important starting point for this residency is to learn special techniques within Japan's oldest ceramics industry and to apply these in the participants’ work.
