The task of the KÖR is to animate the public space of the city of Vienna with permanent and temporary artistic projects. The aim is to strengthen the identity of the city and individual districts in the field of contemporary art and to revive the function of public space as an agora - as a place of socio-political and cultural debate. KÖR understands art in public space not as a decoration, but as an offer to deal with content and radical aesthetic settings as well as a symbolic marking of previously culturally abstinent territories.
