The Kunstwerk Carlshütte is a non-profit cultural initiative and has been organizing NordArt since 1999. NordArt is one of the largest exhibitions of contemporary art in Europe, which is redesigned every year and presents more than 200 selected artists from all over the world - internationally renowned as well as newcomers. Each work stands for itself and at the same time in dialogue with the others. In synergy with the impressive backdrop of the Carlshütte, a unique atmosphere is created that invites you to a voyage of discovery.
NordArt thrives on the different perspectives of individual cultures, but also makes it clear that East and West, South and North have many common ideas. To deepen the insights, NordArt dedicates its own pavilion to a different country every year and presents special projects, cooperates with embassies, cultural institutions and curators from different countries.
The exhibition grounds include the historic halls of the former Carlshütte iron foundry with its 22,000 square meter floor space, the charming ACO carriage depot and an 80,000 square meter sculpture park. NordArt attracts more than 100,000 visitors every summer. The virtual tour on our homepage gives an impression of the exhibition grounds.
