The Skidmore Department of Art is seeking applications for its Work+Space Residency Program for Fall 2026. The Work+Space Residency Program hosts an emerging artist for a 3-week residency (approximately November 1st to November 22nd) to make new work, have a one week solo exhibition in the Schick Gallery, and engage with students through a lecture, studio visits, workshop or other project.
Preference will be given to artists with recent MFA (completed within 5 years) or equivalent exhibition record.
The artist may have access to project-specific facilities and tools based on availability and demonstrated competency with tools and facilities. Some of the facilities that may be available are a printmaking studio, digital media studio, graphic design studio, photography studio (no darkroom), painting and drawing studios, and a large format inkjet printing facility. The artist may also have access to cameras, tripods and other equipment through the equipment check-out system.
The engagement component will be determined between the artist and the Skidmore Art Department within 30 days of residency confirmation.
