low-tech projection lab 2026

Low-Tech Projection Lab is a collaborative residency exploring analogue projection and low-tech visual creation from 14 September to 4 October 2026. Hosted by CROCOSMOS near Toulouse (France), the programme invites five European visual artists to experiment with upcycled projectors, liquids, drawing, mapping and collective artistic research.

The residency combines technical learning, collaborative creation and public sharing during the Visiophare festival. A total of five artists will be selected.

Programme:

• Part 1: build an eco projector, technical learning, 7 days: artists build 5 eco-projectors by converting recycled overhead projectors into LED devices and creating accessories for analogue visual effect. Use of the FabRiquet machines (3D printers, laser cutters).

• Part 2: Explore analogue creation, artistic exploration, 5 days: residents experiment with analogue visual techniques such as liquid projections, drawing and low-tech mapping.

• Part 3: Connect with community, co-creation, 6 days: workshops with local people, laboratory with artist from Visiophare community, preparation of an analogue performance for a presentation at the visiophare festival and organisation of the festival in collaboration with Crocosmos collective.
