GIRLFAILURE: exhibition, searching for too much energy of a 2014 Tumblr post aka works that inhabit the strategic rejection of the heteronormatively imposed scheduling of life and cultural responses to the desire for perfection becoming an obstacle to actual flourishing.

Pieces that utilize found objects,  the low-resolution, glitch, visual textures, personal archives, womanhood, and bodily histories to document the struggle of functioning behind the facade of conventional attraction and purposefully unmet social expectations.

We invite artists to submit works that engage with failure as a style and personal resonance with the idea of the girlfailure as protest. We are looking for art that is authentic, faulted, and genuinely struggling to function. Early-career and student artists are encouraged to apply. All work must be ready for display upon submission, owned and created by the artist, available for purchase from the artist, and able to be delivered and returned from East London location.
