public art opportunity: strathcona wilderness centre

Artists and artist teams are invited to apply for two temporary public art opportunities at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre. The site features hiking trails, picnic areas, wildlife viewing, campgrounds and a public lodge, offering a unique setting for site-responsive and environmentally engaged creative work.

The Strathcona Wilderness Centre is a place of recreation, learning and connection to the natural environment. Artists are encouraged to explore ecological, social and sensory aspects of the site through thoughtful, site-aware proposals.

These commissions support the creation of temporary artworks that invite visitors to experience the site in new ways, encouraging curiosity, reflection and engagement with the landscape.
