Hillsborough County is inviting interested artists to respond to their Request for Qualificationsfor an exterior artwork/sculpture for the Southcoast Greenway Trail located in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Project Overview:

Hillsborough County is interested in receiving submissions from artists demonstrating their ability to provide a landmark sculpture at the Southcoast Greenway Tail. The trail is in the southern region of Hillsborough Themes for the artwork include all things relating to the environment, wellness, or family/community. The selected artist(s) will be responsible for the design, fabrication, and installation of the permanent artwork, including foundation structural design and related permitting.

The piece should be comprised of a material requiring very low maintenance. It is preferable to have artwork viewable from all directions.

The artwork is expected to create a significant landmark. The sculpture should be fifteen to twenty-five feet high, including the base, if any. It will be located near the intersection of the Southcoast Greenway Trail and East Shell Point Road, just south of Hillsborough Community College, SouthShore Campus.

The selected artist will be responsible for the design, fabrication, and installation of the artwork and base, if any, including foundation structural design and related permitting of the base and the art/sculpture.

The artwork will become part of the County’s permanent public art collection. The project will have several stakeholders including the Public Art Committee, various County Departments, the Hillsborough Community College SouthShore Campus community, and other interested arts organizations and individuals.
