exhibition programming 2026

The Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art accepts programming submissions for our Main Gallery and Project Gallery on an ongoing basis.

Our selection committee convenes each spring to review all exhibition proposals, and to select works to be included in the subsequent year’s exhibition schedule. For example, proposals submitted prior to Spring 2025 will be considered for our 2026 exhibition schedule.

Works are selected by our Programming Committee based on the following criteria:

• Compatibility with the Alternator's Vision, Mission and Values.
• Quality of the artwork (with an emphasis on experimental approach.)
• Clarity of the written proposal.
• Production cost and availability.

Further, the Programming Committee seeks diversity of perspective, medium and theme when establishing our annual exhibition calendar.
