GRACIA invites applications for its Independent Artist Residency in Antigua Guatemala, a self-directed program designed for artists, makers, and creatives seeking time and space to focus on their practice.
Residents live and work at La Casita, a shared house and studio where creative work is supported by a calm and intentional environment. The residency is flexible by design—participants are encouraged to shape their own daily rhythm, whether that involves developing a project, conducting research, or taking time to rest and observe.
We host a small group of 1–3 residents at a time, allowing for meaningful exchange, conversation, and reflection. Weekly gatherings create space to share work and engage with different perspectives.
GRACIA offers support with local context, research, and connections, while recognizing that the core of the residency is self-led. Residents are encouraged to consider how their work engages with Guatemala and to approach the experience with openness and care.
Our programs are grounded in ethical and reciprocal cultural exchange, working in collaboration with local artisans, teachers, and knowledge holders in ways that are respectful and fairly compensated.
