The Independent Residency Program at La Casita is designed for artists and creatives seeking dedicated time for self-directed practice within a supportive and context-aware environment. Rooted in exchange, care, and process, the residency encourages participants to deepen their work while engaging thoughtfully with the cultural, social, and artistic landscape of Guatemala.

The program does not impose a fixed theme; instead, it supports a wide range of disciplines and methodologies, welcoming practices that are research-based, process-led, or exploratory in nature. Residents are encouraged to respond to place, community, and context at their own pace, without pressure to produce a final outcome.
