Art Baniana announces its second call for projects to be developed in the town's public spaces, as part of the "II Art Baniana Artist Residency". Selected artists will participate in "micro-residencies," living in the town for one week to develop their proposed project.
The theme for this edition revolves around the work of the artist Paco Ariza Arca.
Art Baniana was created with the aim of promoting, disseminating, and elevating the value of contemporary art in its various forms in the municipality of Baena (Córdoba, Spain).
Our main pillars are muralism and public space interventions, as well as other projects related to contemporary art. Urban art has a notable presence in Baena, and this call aims to further enhance it, generating works in the aforementioned modalities.
We believe it is crucial for contemporary art in its various forms to naturally integrate into the context in which it is executed.
Baena boasts a distinctive historic quarter with peculiar architecture and regulations mandating a specific color palette for all buildings, both public and private, as well as guidelines for construction and the use of materials in public spaces. These regulations aim to maintain visual, historical, and architectural harmony. Artists applying for this call must be aware of this and act accordingly.
