In preparation for the next edition of the Pilsen Street Art Festival Wallz No. 6, we are launching an open call for the creation of a unique permanent work of art.
Location: South facade of „PROLUKA“ Building - Křižíkovy sady 345/9, Plzeň
Size: 7 x 18 m
Execution date: 21–27 June 2025
Execution from a forklift platform
CONTEXT AND LOCATION OF THE PIECE:
- The mural is intended for the south facade of a historic house in the city centre in the protected heritage site. This is one of the most exposed areas for the realization of a large-scale mural in the city.
- Close to this new mural is the historicizing large-scale mural, Teatrum Mundi, which refers to the city's past and cultural heritage.
- The new mural should stand as a modern complement to this historic painting. While Teatrum Mundi focuses on the past, the new work should represent the present and future of Pilsen.
- A modern concept, innovative style and elements that refer to dynamism and progressiveness are desirable. On the contrary, creating an allegory of the city in a historicizing style is not desirable.
THE MAIN IDEAS THAT THE PIECE SHALL EXPRESS:
- Pilsen is a city with a rich history, which is also looking into the future. This work should reflect the balance between tradition and innovation. Pilsen is not just a collection of buildings and streets; it is a living organism made up of the people who live here and create its identity. Every citizen is an inseparable part of the city's story.
- Pilsen as a bridge between the past and the future: The theme of linking historical heritage with modern trends and technologies.
- People make the city: The mural should emphasize the active participation of citizens in shaping the city life.
- Reminder of the 2015 ECoC (European Capital of Culture): The piece should make a subtle but clear reference to the event that changed the cultural face of Pilsen and raised wider European awareness about the city.
