We're hiring an Assistant Curator!
The Assistant Curator collaborates closely with the Curator to ensure the successful coordination and administration of Gasworks’ artistic programme. This role is integral to the delivery of all our exhibitions, international artist residencies and other programmes. The right candidate will work nimbly across all departments to ensure the smooth running of our day-to-day activities.
We are looking for someone who can confidently coordinate the practical and logistical side of exhibitions and residencies – from transport, budgets and paperwork, to installations, hospitality, and supporting artists day-to-day. The role will also help to deliver public programmes and events, draft interpretation materials, and give tours and talks to audiences and supporters.
A key part of the job is working closely with residency artists, including supporting on open calls and selection processes, welcoming artists to Gasworks, arranging travel and visas, facilitating access to materials and research resources, organising open studios, and ensuring they feel supported throughout their stay. The role also contributes to fundraising and reporting by gathering data, supporting funding applications, and helping with donor and patron events.
More broadly, the postholder will assist with communications, maintain records and databases, and help with the general running of the building. They are expected to work collaboratively across the team, build positive relationships with artists and partners, and uphold Gasworks’ values of inclusivity and care.
