RSJ has been active for 12 years, establishing itself as a reference in the realm of art residencies in Brazil. "Verãozão" is our special annual summer residency, scheduled to happen from **24/01 to 08/02 2025.**

  
**The São João Residency** focuses on intensive development of creative works, processes and experiences, in connection with its environment. The residency is located in a historic 19th-century coffee farm, with an agroecological approach, near the city of São José do Vale do Rio Preto, in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro. Over 60% of the farm is constituted by preserved Atlantic rainforest, and all crops are certified organic.

**Verãozão** is the moment in which we surrender to pure fruition while taking care of our creativity in connection with ourselves and the Earth. After the rain that greatly contributes to the flow of the waterfalls, we will join in the heat, warming up our hearts.

  
**For this edition**, we will have two amazing collaborators: Nancy Mora, a colombian "chef de cuisine" and agroecological activist, taking care of our meals; and the tantric therapists Renê Caffaro and Monaliza Marchi, who offer daily active meditations and an individual massage available for each resident, already included in the fee.

  
Part of the **Verãozão** gourp is usually formed by ex-residents, as we work on deepening our network of affections and collaborations. We also welcome first-time voyagers! All activities will be collectively discussed, from each resident's proposals. Please bring your desires, your preoccupations and purposefulness!

We will form a multi-disciplinary group with up to 14 people, among artists (visual, sound, audio-visual, conceptual, performative …), researchers and other people interested in this context. All applications will be considered with care!

The Residency is an independent project, run by artists, and is non-profitable.

The fee includes: two weeks of stay; all meals by our artist chef, primarily based on bio and local products; and the therapies that will happen collectively on a daily basis. It’s like a spa of creativity and affection!

Since we aim to promote social and territorial inclusion, we offer three full grants, one for a regional resident and two for black/indigenous/trans/peripherical people, coming from any country in the so called "global south". You're welcome to announce these opportunities to anyone you think could benefit from it!

  
**What we offer:**

* Shared rooms in a historical building from 1853

* Sound recording studio equipped with: monitoring speakers / 16 channel audio recording interface / microphones / digital piano / percussions
* A small waterfall within 5 min walk

* All meals: breakfast / lunch / dinner
* Daily collective meditations (optional)
* One individual session of tantric therapy (optional)
* Promotion of the work done during the residency (publishing on our digital platforms and eventually live events)
* A final event, open to the local audience, to share the experiences, works and processes created

  
**What is not included in the fee:**

* Transport in and out of the São João Farm (but we will provide assistance for the residents to share transports)
* Alcoholic beverages (there will be craft beer produced on the farm for sale)
