call to artists: kinetic sculpture

We are seeking an artist to provide an interactive/kinetic sculpture that encourages participation and exploration, shaping the artistic experience through movement, and engaging viewers and children.

The site for the sculpture is part of a recently renovated area of the Arboretum designated as the Backyard Garden. The site's dimensions are 29' x 25' x 3' h. The shape is irregular, and the site is currently empty except for an evergreen shrub and a bench. We hope for a creative vision for the site.

It would be best to consider how you see your piece fitting into the environment, including ideas for landscaping to tie it to the rest of the gardens and what materials will be used. Because the work will be in an unsupervised public space, the work should be weather- and vandal-proof as well as securely fastened.
