Open Calls for DESIGN Kuopio Residency Programme 2023 are still open! Each year we offer eight different open calls for designers and artists to work in our Design Academy groups. We currently have two different artist residencies available through the end of the year (with 2024 dates coming soon):

2023 Residency for Designers/Artists who works with symbols:

• Application deadline: September 22, 2023
• Residency dates: October 09 – 15, 2023

2023 Residency for Architects or Product Designers:

• Application deadline: October 20, 2023
• Residency dates: November 06 – 12, 2023

The Residency Program is connected to Kuopio Academy of Design’s basic studies curriculum, themed around the history of Finnish design from the Stone Age to the Future. The designer-in-residence participates for a week in teaching students of the Academy of Design of different ages, inspiring them to ideate and design the subject together with the teachers of the Academy of Design.

Kuopio is a pleasant and peaceful city situated in Eastern Finland, surrounded by an exceptional scenery of forests and lakes, sure to inspire you in your work! DESIGN Kuopio Residency offers designers and artists the opportunity to live and work in an inspiring milieu right in the center of Kuopio and close to the area's magnificent nature.
