AAA announces an Open Call for artists and zine-makers based in Hong Kong as part of our ongoing project to develop research and discussion through zines.
With over 1,000 titles, AAA’s Zine Collection documents the multiple micro-histories that circulate along the margins through this sporadic and ephemeral medium. Zines invite readers to participate in the reading process, encouraging them to rearrange, supplement, and intervene to their liking. Within these dynamic interactions, a vibrant ecosystem flourishes. Info-shops, print shops, reading rooms, book fairs, and independent publishers host gatherings and offer spaces to circulate and share print matter resources. Radiating beyond the simple print, zine culture encompasses larger ecosystems of community that support and sustain one another.
Held from 3 March to 3 June 2025, AAA’s third edition of Try Try Zine Residency will support two artists and zine-makers in the creation of a new zine that responds to AAA Collections. Selected artists and zine-makers will be invited to research AAA’s digital and physical Collections onsite at our library, and online through our website. This residency will support and develop zine-making activities more broadly while encouraging artists to activate and engage with AAA Collections.
