The Kunstverein Hannover awards three grants every two years for young contemporary artists. Thanks to support from the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, the Kulturbüro of the city of Hannover, and Gundlach Bau und Immobilien GmbH & Co. KG, more than 50 artists have been awarded since 1983.
The three grants are divided into the two-year Lower Saxony Advancement Grant, the one-year Lower Saxony Young Artist Grant and the one-year National Young Artist Grant, each of which is supported with a monthly amount of 1000 euros and offers a studio with accommodation.
The 1950s building in the Hannover-List district that houses the studios is adjoined by a large garden. Particularly desired for the 2025–26 cycle: an artistic focus on issues of sustainability, flora and fauna - if possible, but not a requirement.
