The local municipality of Gundersheim is planning to build a six-group daycare center in the second row of buildings on "Strohgasse" street.
First, a new daycare center will be built before the existing building is demolished. This will only happen in the second phase. The plan is for a two-story building with a flat roof. The building will have ground-level access from Strohgasse street, and the upper floor will be accessible via stairs and an elevator, providing barrier-free access. In addition to six group rooms, the building will have all the other functional rooms necessary for the operation of the future daycare center.
The client envisions creating a free-form piece of art integrated into the building, primarily for the exterior. If the concept proves successful, space could also be found for artworks inside. The precise location will be determined during the planning process, depending on the type of artwork; the location(s) will be announced no later than the colloquium.
The integration of art into the architecture should reflect the sustainable nature of the building's design principles. The artwork should create an identity that is characteristic of the daycare center's location. Participants are granted considerable freedom in terms of both theme and artistic style. However, it is expected that the artwork will be developed specifically for this location and the described task. Materials must be used that are suitable for children and ensure their safety. The following must be observed when selecting and processing the materials:
Weather and environmental resistance in outdoor art
Long-lasting durability
Avoiding the risk of injury
