Comprised of 21 mirrors (and counting), "Leftovers" is made from what would have been waste material - test pieces, offcuts of glass and excess solutions. This series is driven by the criteria artists impose on themselves, their work and extension, the final selection process (ie: what they decide are mistakes/failures and therefore, not good enough for exhibition).

I’m Ok (and other lies I tell myself) investigates the liminal space between narcissism and self-loathing. A fragile landscape that shapes humanity with its relentless ability to create distance between the perceived and created self. The exhibition’s witty and purposeful use of reflection provides the viewer space to consider the value of (self) image in our visually saturated culture.

(in)finite visions is a continuation of Spivak’s first solo exhibition at RED Gallery earlier this year (Finite Visions). Spivak has spent the last three years exploring the alchemical reactions of the 18th century, specifically silver’s relationship with glass.

For Narcissus (1000 tears)

"Chasing Daylight" specifically draws reference from the story of Icarus, with focus on his over-zealous attempt towards self preservation.

Over the course of a 2 month exhibition, the artist maintained the artwork with constant humidity of aforementioned chemicals. Over time, the works began to crystallise - allowing landscapes to materialise.

Reasons to Remember (a fragile landscape)

Part of a larger solo exhibition, Fixed Not Forgotten, Melbourne. These photographic prints were laid flat in the studio, misted with chemistry and coated in resin. Left to develop and change over the course of the exhibition.
