Whether it's a physical manifestation like our beds or more sentimental associations, like a hug from a friend, we are all familiar with the idea of home. This resonance has always intrigued my creative practice as much as it has in my personal life.

  
'Where the Heart Is' is a personal series that continues my exploration of our relationship with the concept of 'home'. The coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns took a toll on us beyond feeling "trapped". This series encourages reflection on our relationship with ourselves and how we think about our homes - as they became more than merely a place, we rest.

  
The series consists of 19 portraits taken during two nationwide lockdowns, adding colour to the participants' anecdotes. The replies reveal people citing home as a place of safety and comfort, while others spoke about being at home affected their relationship. Most responses are transcripts from diary entry-style voice notes, while others are text messages from the subjects. One subject replied by writing a letter to me as they pondered on home and its meaning in their lives.

_Ode to Idra_ is a visual love letter chronicling my metamorphic experience on the bewitching Greek island during my first artist residency. Far from my daily grind, I found liberation and introspection amidst Idra's mesmerising colours and sounds. This series celebrates the power of travel, the bonds we forge, and the personal growth that follows. Each piece captures treasured memories and the island's profound impact on my creative and personal life. "Ode to Idra" expresses gratitude for the priceless lessons and experiences gained, reminding us to step out of our comfort zones and embrace inspiration.

  

Ode to Idra

Love and loss are universal experiences that transcend cultural, religious, and sexual boundaries. Yet, amidst their dualistic nature, we often overlook their profound impact on our daily lives. Within the intricate dance of any relationship, we are immersed in a constantly shifting spectrum of fondness and grief. The objects of our affection or mourning become integral parts of the rich tapestry of our emotions, woven with countless threads of influence. In this continuous interplay, we find ourselves exploring and experiencing the depths of our feelings.
