Eternal Cycle

Eternal Cycle is an installation and performance piece with five organ-like vessels each containing a shed skin. The body-skin structures are sewn with screen-printed tulle and are compressed into the vessels. The vessels are made from polymer clay and resin that capture the veracity of a reproductive organ. The installation is accompanied by a video performance demonstrating the action of taking the individual body out of the vessel and delicately hanging them like clothing. Through the performance, Eternal Cycle investigates the possibility of utilizing the time of difficulties as a way of growth and expansion.

Portrait of Aorta explores the motion of stitching, sewing, puncturing, and pinning in relation to the process of bruising, healing and forming of a human being. Each thread that is stitched through the sheer fabric becomes an indelible capillary, and together, the myriad puncturing, forms the complete body. The tingling act of stitching becomes a process for the formation of the whole body that destroys and mends at the same time. Pinning up the body with the acupuncture needles is not only essential for holding up the structure but is also a therapeutic treatment for relieving pain. By revealing the traces of these actions, this work evokes the systems embedded within our bodies, as well as suffering as a key element for physical and psychological growth.

Gentle Piercing is a series of soft sculptures that are abstracted figures that were pierced by golden nails and pushed into the wall synchronizing the process of bruising and puncturing through bodies.

Intertwined No.2 is an edition of artists’ books that challenge the conventional way of reading by reformulating the book as a metaphoric extension of the human body. Each sheet of paper is handmade using abaca pulp inlaid with human hair, all symbolizing the layers of skin that protect the body. The action of navigating through this book becomes an uncanny investigation of the vulnerable and private feminine body.
