About

Amber Dubs (@amberdubsmusic / @boujieontheinside) is a multi-disciplinary practitioner ~ Emcee & Poet, DJ, Radio Host, Theatre and Film maker / Director, Producer & Performing Artist, born & raised on Wangal & Gadigal lands in the Inner West of Warrane Cove, Eora (so called Sydney). Amber acknowledges with love and solidarity all First Nations people, true custodians of the stolen lands we live, work and learn from in so called "Australia". Deep respect & appreciation to all Elders, sovereignty of these lands was never ceded.

Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.

She holds a completed a Bachelor of Arts (Acting for Screen & Stage) (2013), a Dip. Electronic Sound Production (2017), currently finishing an Adv. Diploma of Music (Creation and Composition). Amber has created & performed work domestically & internationally; some career highlights pre-COVID include: DJing at Parramatta Lanes Festival & performing a live poetry set at The Plot Festival (2016) & an international residency in Greece, sharing original poetic works with local community (2017). Amber moved to Berlin in 2018 & starred as featured actress in a short film, “Hänsel meets Gretel" directed by Mohamed Farahat. This film made official selection for the Berlin International Film Festival (2019), the only locally crewed production in attendance.

For 2 years, Amber taught music & songwriting, DJing & Turntablism at youth workshops for therapeutic beat making with Today’s Future Sound alongside Dr. Elliot Gann & friends (seasonally / 2022 & 2023). Amber was also selected in 2022 via countrywide audition for the National Songwriting Project for Schools, a joint songwriting project for 6 participant artists nationally with lived experience of disability and/or d/Deafness, funded by AARTS, Arts Access VIC, APRA AMCOS & Creative Australia. This program was funded with the intention of creating a national framework of methods and ideas to be rolled out in school environments for how to best teach music and songwriting skills to artists and young people with lived experiences of disabilities and/or d/Deafness.

Amber's creative practice is diverse and extends from music production, rap, classically trained singer & cellist, backline/stagehand support for international tours, to theatre, tv & film maker, poet, director, copyright/licensing specialist, DJ, songwriter & live/hybrid performer of all forms.
