While having lunch at a tavern, an elderly woman caught my attention. Her expression reminded me of my father, with whom I had a 65 year age gap. This is why I have deep respect and attentiveness for elderly people. I was drawn to her calmness which inspired me to create an artwork. The present juxtaposes the past with her youthful hands sprouting memories in the middle space. Figurative painting contrasts with abstract shapes. This picture pays hommage to the elderly.

Stoicism 

The title is metaphorical and refers to the fragility of human life. That is why I chose the pistol for danger and metaphorically the porcelain soup tureen for the fragility of life. The twists and turns of life crack and bring down someone from the weight of catastrophe and suffering. Yet, human will and the instinct to stand up again keeps their spirit intact

Cracked, yet not broken 

Roosters have a place in the history of art for at least two thousand years. They briefly sit on an egg when the chicken is absent, not to hatch them but to protect them. In my painting, the egg’s nutrients flow through a hole like spring water forming a fried egg which also disintegrates. I believe that the rooster fails to protect the egg yet it metaphorically brings to mind a failed patriarchal society.

Spring of life

My hand barely touches the thorny thistle. The thorns point downward as if tamed by submission. This painting celebrates the process of finding peace within oneself. It is about facing our demons and coming to terms with them. In the background a flock of birds consent to the act of reconciliation.

Reconciliation 

I am fascinated by the crown braid hairstyles for their elegance and intricate sculptural volume. At the same time, I am interested in painting enigmatic backview female portraits because it is a seldom found theme in portraiture due to their concealed identity. My painting focuses on the back of a woman's head contemplating a silhouette of a mountain under the sky, a scene that soothes the mind. A valuable emotion cherished during hiking.

Contemplation

This wax painting stands as a passage of life where mystery, elegance and the light to the unknown come together. It is a stepping stone for the moments that matter most in a woman's life. The imagery is influenced from a book on Romanian costumes and ornaments.The embroidery surrounding the figure is taken from a museum exhibit which completes the woman's grace.
