This series of APOCALYPTISIM works was written during the quarantine period.

The idea of the concept originated a long time ago. I have always thought about the art object, about the object to be depicted. Some recent events have led me to think that an art object can be exactly what you see.

It shows variability, how certain events, certain cataclysms affect the state of things, the consciousness of people and change it, if not radically, then quite profoundly.
As one famous artist said, "A work of art is not something a person needs." However, in an art object, a person always needs it!

My message, to put it in words, is a provocation to think.
The concept of the series is particularly ironic about how people consume art.
Irony is important indeed in art, especially with such a plot. Irony is a necessary component here.


The most well-known art object in the world

A portrait has lost its role as a mere model depicting long ago. Billions of smartphone cameras have assumed it.
Lenses of a photo artist are able to get particular character traits, which help us to recognize the model. And an artist? 

A painted portrait is a result of artist-model communication. The movement of mimic muscles is reproduced by the movement of brush strokes in a way, which makes you able to guess a topic of discussion, sometimes. The very same way as we could guess the daytime in painted landscapes. Nature is a model for a landscape artist, depicting which the artist conveys emotions, light and air. In the same way, the portrait shows a dialogue between the artist and the model… 

Moreover, there are no readymade postures as we can see on Instagram. 
Have you ever heard your voice recorded? Grimaced? Sometimes, models do after live sessions.

A portrait is something more then merely depiction of a model. It's a story about emotions, perception, artist's view. 
What does an artwork encompass in larger proportion? The artist's world or the model's one? 

It's to be judged by a visitor and the model themselves. The artworks represent a moment of people's life solidified by paints. In this exhibition everybody acted as either an artist, a model or a critic.

Whose role is the easiest one? Correct... It's critic's!

Painting encompasses both science and feelings. 

But beyond that, rules and improvisation, reality and imagination, truth and illusion, all are there. 
An artist, as an alchemist, adds and mixes all those components trying to find consonance between the image and artist’s theme view. Probably, a visitor will be able to resonance with an artwork as well and to understand the artist’s message. 
I don’t mean the recognition of depicted objects: a tree, a river or a flower but feelings, emotions and the idea. 
Sometimes, to be able to get all these impressions and the message, at least partially, we don’t need any tree, or river, or flower. In a well-known way of depicting of course. 

But sometimes, the name of the painting is vital...
